Honest food at honest prices – this is the rule at The White Hart.
Staff are friendly, the atmosphere is casual, beer is real and the locally sourced food never falls below the standard set by Rupert, Sam, Steve & Kirsty. Their mantra – keep it simple.
Besides a superb Sunday Roast, this bar/restaurant offers a continually evolving menu plus daily specials. Dishes range from a slow cooked lamb shoulder, root vegetable bubble & squeak and a horseradish creme fraiche to fillet of cod with creamed leeks and ox cheek croquette. Desserts are delicious, whisky & marmalade panetonne pudding, and baked cheesecake with vanilla poached rhubarb, for example. There is also a range of tapas to be chosen from, including a well-documented fabulous rough pesto.
As the summer arrives meal times are al fresco in the pretty walled garden.
The hand built bar serves imported continental lagers, local ales and has a well-chosen and sensibly priced wine list.
Due to popularity it is wise to book ahead, but whenever you visit you'll find a peoples' pub serving food that is nothing short of excellent.
